Today, a mere four days after Barack Obama won a resounding electoral victory and became the President-Elect, I received the first "THE SKY IS FALLING" emails forwarded by my neighbor, a retired military officer and Republican in independent clothing.

I suggest to him and to the rest of that discredited minority some simple advice, echoing that given me and the electoral majority after the Supreme Court overrode the election process and anointed Bush the Decider to the presidency in 2000:

Get over it.

Obama is the President-Elect. He represents the will of the American people. You need to put aside your prejudice and your hatred, and join the rest of us, indeed, the world, in wishing him success instead of trying to poison the well of good will bathing him as he forms a new government.

Get over it.

It is difficult to actually believe that we will achieve nirvana during Obama's first term (or his second), but it is not hard to believe that the wretched incompetence that characterizes all eight years of Bush 43 will be mitigated, that our standing as a respected leader in the world will begin to be restored, that the imperial presidency will be dismantled, and that the United States Constitution will once again become the law of the land.

If you in the minority party think these goals are somehow dangerous or subversive, maybe you are living in the wrong country. So please:

Get over it.
