As a godly woman I am certain you will recognize the quotation "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." (Galations, 6:7).
As you fade into an obscure retirement in your Washington home, I would hope that this quotation, along with its more contemporary counterpart, "What goes around, comes around", will come to mind when and if you try to analyze your defeat by Senator-Elect Kay Hagen ? part of the tsumani that repudiated George W. Bush's agenda of lies, deceit, cronyism, government bloat and incompetence, cowboy diplomacy, overarching imperialism, and militant deregulation.
I hope, too, that you will spend time contemplating your role in enabling the trashing of the United States Constitution by Bush and Cheney.
Perhaps will try to formulate an explanation to your grandchildren of why each of them owes some $35,000 to the national debt, and why it's acceptable for the government to monitor their phone calls, emails and financial transactions.
Perhaps you will ask yourself (apparently for the first time) why it was necessary to squander thousands of American lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi lives on a war of choice that was bankrupting the nation even before the economy crashed, the crash that is demanding (so we are told) billions to be given to the very institutions that invented the chimerical financial instruments called "derivatives" by them and "a house of cards" by us.
